The Before

The Hubs and I were on a bit of a time crunch when we were finally in a position to house hunt seriously.  We (and in this case, by "we," I actually mean "I") had been scouring the internet and had even signed up with a realtor to have her send us listings in our chosen area on a regular basis for more than a year.  But, we just were dreaming - at least a little bit.

Then, the stars aligned and we were in a position for both of us to make the move.  By that time, we had narrowed it down to a handful of models and elevations within the chosen community that we liked so we were able to narrow our search quickly.

Then we found the perfect home.  And shockingly, it wasn't one of those handful of floor plans.  What caught our attention was the lot.  It sat on a large (at least by the standards for this gated community) lot with a tall wall that bordered the neighboring homes instead of the highway.  Meaning, it was relatively private and was perfect for our menagerie of large canine friends.

What is wasn't:

• Unique
• Different
• Full of character
• Modern

What is was:

• A blank slate 
• Full of structural upgrades 
• It had a handful of cosmetic upgrades that we already liked
• On a larger, private lot
• A part time home for the previous owner
• In our price range

So with a Pros and Cons list like that, what else were we supposed to do but buy it?!
